Many homes have had Sky installed for years now. It is easy to get into the mindset that this is the only option, but it is not. There are others, and some cost nothing after the initial investment.
The the other option that is not obvious is that you can still use the Sky / HD / + box without paying. You will lose many premium channels, but still keep the main ones. Simply cancel your subscription with then, take out the card from the Sky box, switch it on and off. Simple.
The other options are Freeview and Freesat. Free channels and NO ONGOING CHARGES. This option is not for everyone as some geographical locations cannot use them.
